The international conference „Connecting Media“ (November 2nd to November 4th, 2006) organized by the Hamburg Hochschule für Musik und Theater will give an overview of current developments in the interdisciplinary fields of technology, cognitive science, music and pedagogy.
The conference program primarily directed at professionals, scientists, scholars, teachers and college students as well as artist and musicians consists of 20 lectures, five software workshops and five evening/night concerts, and provides an opportunity for an active exchange between all participants.
During the conference the e-learning project MUTOR (Music Thechnology Online Repository) will be publicly presented for the first time. Conference speakers include project partners David Wessel (UC Berkeley) and Anthony De Ritis (Northeastern University Boston).
The opening event on Thursday night will be the multimedia music theater show “Voiceover”, a successful and innovative collaboration between the Music Theater Directing and Multimedia Composition programs. The performance of “Quintessence” by the European Bridges Ensemble on Friday night marks the start of the German-Hungarian cultural project “Music in the Global Village”. Cellist Frances-Marie Uitti and computer musician David Wessel will perform the closing concert on Saturday night.
The conference is dedicated to the late composer and Hochschule professor György Ligeti.
