We’re delighted that you’re interested in studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg (HfMT). Situated in the center of one of the most beautiful and cultural distinguished cities in Germany, we offer a wide range of courses on a high artistic level with practical relevance and versatile qualifications. The HfMT renders its students the possibility of numerous performances with varied audiences and has firmly established itself with more than 400 events annually within the cultural life of Hamburg.

Courses are generally in German. To prove their artistic-scientific competency, candidates from non-German-speaking countries must provide a certificate of proficiency with the German language on B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The academic year is typically arranged in two semesters: winter term lasts from Oct 1st to Mar 31st, summer term from Apr 1st to Sep 30th.
