SOLIDARITY RALLY FOR PROTESTERS IN IRAN ON NOVEMBER 27

With this newsletter, we would like to draw your attention to a special event.

The current political events in Iran are very close to our hearts. A few weeks ago, we responded to the needs of our students of Iranian descent and created a forum where we can discuss this topic with one another. In an open discussion, there was space for sharing personal experiences. The young Iranians gave us moving insights. We heard about their fears and hopes, their perspectives, and their wishes.

The University of Music and Drama is a place of education and culture—and a place for young people. We consider it our social responsibility to get involved and speak out when necessary. We do not tolerate any form of discrimination or oppression—and certainly not violence—and thus declare our solidarity with all Iranians who take to the streets at great personal risk to defend their rights.

Under the title “In Focus Iran: Music and Art as the Voice of Protest in Iran,” we are launching a series of events on November 27 that will explore current social and political events in Iran from the perspective of music and art. With musical performances, live art, film screenings, talks, and discussions—featuring participants from the HfMT and our artists friends—we’ll fill our Forum stage that evening.

You are cordially invited! The protests in Iran need to resonate widely across the globe. We want to come together in large numbers and look forward to seeing you there!
