POWER UP UNTIL THE SUMMER BREAK

Dear friends of the HfMT,

It's very warm and we're almost running out of breath while advertising, especially in view of the marathon of superlatives behind us. But we're not done yet, on the contrary: the HfMT is carrying on, because as the temperatures rise, so does the density of events and it's really worthwhile again. That's why we're promoting something straight and fair from everyone in the beginning of July.

Those who are super quick can still get their hands on the supporter goodie of the month. Read on to the end of this newsletter.

After the end of the semester on July 13, the JazzHall team will whirl us through 7 days of SummerFestival 2.0 in one big crescendo with last year's familiar and convincing mix of young talents, Hamburg's jazz scene and internationally renowned artists that we shouldn't miss.

After that it's time for a break.

Sincerely,
Your HfMT

MUSIC

Cross-picked:

A concert by the Early Music Department with Dutch and French baroque music and the inviting title Wat zal men op den avont doen? can be experienced on July 2 in the Spiegelsaal of the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg.

This is contrasted by an evening of new music entitled Funny Weather on July 15 - all works are brand new and a response by HfMT composition students to the open call of a student newcomer ensemble, which is passionately dedicated to the interpretation of contemporary works.

In Paradisum on July 5 in the Christuskirche Wandsbek brings us sacred music by Bach and Duruflé as part of three master's degrees in church music. The journey from this world to another, the end of mortality and the question of the afterlife have always preoccupied us humans and provide the thematic framework for this evening.

The multimedia evening Euridice on July 6 is also about the transition from one world to another. The material will be treated using multimedia composition techniques and a small ensemble of performers and musicians as part of the final presentation by Master's student Gabriel Saber.

The symphony concert on July 10 will feature the world premiere ['muk-] on canvas for piano and orchestra by Kyungjin Lim from the class of Prof. Gordon Kampe and Sibelius Violin Concerto with concert exam student Merve Uslu from the class of Prof. Tanja Becker-Bender.

Last but not least, it is worth mentioning the 27 examination concerts still to come, with which the students will demonstrate their artistic maturity. What may seem inflationary and somewhat soberly formal represents the core of our work in its purest form: the concentration on the personal development of each individual.
Experience, for example, concert exam student Camilla Pilla Arnese in the song recital on July 8, Master's student Sofiia Oganesian in the harpsichord recital on July 10, the piano recital on July 11 by Bachelor's student Malte Henrik Gohr.

The curtain also goes up again for the Theaterakademie: on 18 and 19 July, Leonie Sauermann will present Ronja the Robber's Daughter - musical scenes about pain from Astrid Lindgren's novel of the same name, her final production in the musical theater directing course. Lindgren's words and music by Mendelssohn and Fauré create a musical bedtime story that creates a space of longing. This invites us to dream - of the forest, the pond, the Glupafall and allows us to look through the world of sounds at Ronja's confrontation with fear.
Please note that the play is only suitable for people aged 15 and over.

PEDAGOGY

When the students of educational subjects take to the stage, their artistic talents and their gift for inspiring people and involving their audience are on display. For example, at the regular SingOn! event on 7 July or at the legendary summer concert of the Institute of School Music on 12 July, where the best of the practical school examinations are shown and one or two hands-on programs are presented.

SCIENCE

From the field of musicology, we report on a new development and research project that the HfMT will be carrying out together with the Hamburg cultural and educational project TONALi: Under the working title Die geteilte Bühne. Innovation, Participation, Communities, new models of artistic and social participation are to be jointly developed and researched. This pilot project is made possible by funding from Hamburg Innovation's Call for Transfer, which supports economically effective or socio-cultural concepts that are transferred out of universities and into society.
