Our days are busy, our days are demanding. While to-do lists grow longer and longer, our patience and concentration span get shorter and shorter. Who hasn’t tried one of these smart applications that promise relaxation, ease, and clarity for the mind in a second? We listen to the soothing voice, we close our eyes, we breathe. We let ourselves be guided to imaginative places, we let our thoughts be rearranged. We spend time with a faceless voice in our most vulnerable and intimate moments. And we trust it. Unfortunately, self-optimization is a run without any end, and too often we find ourselves in the same uncomfortable places we have been many times before. Sounds like a good fit for someone’s business model?
A singer called Alice tries to escape the pressure of her work as well, turning to a mysterious application called the meadow. She finds herself lying in the green grass, watching the fluffy clouds go by, when suddenly new doors open, and her journey turns into a feverish dream. the meadow is a multimedia composition for a singer, cello, percussion, electronics, lights, video,
and stage that engages with the eerie qualities of self-help tools that we integrate into our everyday life.
