Samantha was born in Oldham, Manchester and classically trained on the clarinet from the age of 10. In 2012 she studied at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music, and won awards for her classical and jazz clarinet playing, including the Future Talent gold award from the Duchess of Kent, the Gerald Pritchett memorial award and the professor Ian Tracey award for musicianship.

From 2013-2017 Samantha studied for her Bachelor's degree (jazz) at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, UK. Upon graduating, she was the recipient of the THSH graduation prize for leadership and excellence.

From 2017-2019 she was a student on the Dr Langner Jazz Master's course at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater, specialising in jazz clarinet performance and research with her teacher, Rolf Kühn.

As of October 2019, Samantha is part of the teaching faculty at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater's jazz department, where she teaches clarinet.
