Aufnahmeprüfung Multimedia Composition
1. A written exam (3h)
The written part consists of two sections
1.1 Multiple Choice Theory
The first part is a theoretical multiple choice test.
Basic knowledge of computer music and technology and some history in electronic music / media art is the center of this part.
In order to prepare yourself you can:
1. Learn about basic concepts in electronic music.
A reference book can be „The Computer Music Tutorial“ by Curtis Roads.
2. Familiarize yourself with some key figures in historic multimedia and contemporary electroacoustic composition.
Focus on musicians with a practice of electroacoustic music, video art, algorithmic composition.
3. Acquire some basic information of MAX/MSP
The basic Max/Msp Tutorials on the „MAX“ part are sufficient for this.
1.2 Written Text
In the second section of the written exam you will be asked to
1.2.2 Design a small multimedia artwork (as a concept on paper)
1.2.2 Analyze a text and answer questions about it
The written part is followed by an interview, during which you can present yourself and three (electronic / multimedia) works of yours - in roughly 15 minutes. Ideally prepare a slideshow and short excerpts of your pieces.
2. An Oral Presentation (15min)
You have about 10 minutes to present three works of yours. Prepare a short presentation that includes excerpts of these pieces. Outline your background quickly, your interest and outlook. This is followed by 5 minutes or Q+A.
The exam and presentation are in English.
