Multimedia Composition entrance exam

1. A written exam (3 hours)
The written portion consists of two sections

1.1 Multiple-Choice Theory
The first part is a theoretical multiple-choice test.
This section focuses on basic knowledge of computer music and technology, as well as some history of electronic music and media art.
To prepare, you can:

1. Learn about basic concepts in electronic music.
A recommended reference book is “The Computer Music Tutorial” by Curtis Roads.

2. Familiarize yourself with some key figures in historical multimedia and contemporary electroacoustic composition.
Focus on musicians active in electroacoustic music, video art, and algorithmic composition.

3. Acquire some basic knowledge of MAX/MSP
The basic MAX/MSP tutorials in the “MAX” section are sufficient for this.

1.2 Written Text
In the second section of the written exam, you will be asked to
1.2.2 Design a small multimedia artwork (as a concept on paper)
1.2.2 Analyze a text and answer questions about it

The written part is followed by an interview, during which you can present yourself and three (electronic/multimedia) works of yours—in roughly 15 minutes. Ideally, prepare a slideshow and short excerpts from your pieces.

2. An Oral Presentation (15 min)
You have about 10 minutes to present three of your works. Prepare a short presentation that includes excerpts from these pieces. Briefly outline your background, your interests, and your perspective. This is followed by a 5-minute Q&A session.

The exam and presentation are in English.

The entrance examination is expected to take place from April 27, 2026, to April 28, 2026.
