Music therapy specialization module

The module is aimed at students of pedagogical degree programs and is also open to interested parties from all degree programs.

Students gain detailed knowledge of fundamental interpersonal processes, enabling them to interact more competently and satisfactorily with pupils, colleagues and parents.

Psychological and developmental processes are taught through musical improvisational processes as experiential learning content, so that prospective music teachers learn to design music lessons as a space for personal development, play development and resource activation for students. The module offers a variety of methodological suggestions from music therapy that can be incorporated into music education work.

The course content is highly relevant in preparing for a professional identity as a teacher with the psycho-emotional flexibility and resilience inherently required in this professional field and the ability to manage crises. Working in inclusive pedagogical fields also requires a higher level of counseling skills in relation to pedagogical and therapeutic services, to which the module also aims to contribute. With knowledge of relationship dynamics in individual and group situations, it is easier to understand the connections between emotionally stressful interactions in the classroom and to develop suitable support services.

Can be selected according tocapacities (up to 20 CP):
Group-dynamic work, developmental psychology, interviewing, emotions and affects from a psychoanalytical perspective, fields of action in music and psychotherapy, improvisation as a relationship process, psychodynamic movement, writing workshop.
