Interdisciplinary theater practice. Right from the start.

The success and particular appeal of the Theaterakademie lies in its dual-track artistic and academic training and the transdisciplinary networking of all theater-related courses of study.

Here, directors, singers, actors and dramaturges work together in rehearsal stages and studios from the very beginning. The direct proximity to the Institute for Cultural and Media Management opens up new perspectives for the development of artistic projects. The proximity to the university's instrumental courses, conductors and composers creates a unique learning environment in which students can develop their individual artistic personality in creative processes.

Artistic collaborations at the highest level

The Theaterakademie cooperates with the stage design class at the Hochschule für Bildende Kunst (HfBK) and the costume designers at the Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften (HAW). Artistic teams that often work together successfully for years are already formed during the course of study.

Hamburg State Opera, Deutsches Schauspielhaus, Thalia Theater and Kampnagel are directly involved in the training profile in the role of advisory board. Artists from the respective theaters teach in the various disciplines. The public projects of the higher classes take place in the venues of Hamburg's state and private theaters.
