zwoelf - the university magazine
The university celebrates its 75th birthday. The zwoelf looks back on the founding phase and looks ahead: What are the visions and challenges of the HfMT?
Hamburg is a Hanseatic city. Its DNA is port and trade. Science and culture, on the other hand, were for centuries far less important in shaping the city's identity than in the classic intellectual metropolises. It was not until 1919 that the university opened its doors, followed by the HfMT in 1950. The path to its foundation was a thorny one - we trace it in the "75 years of the HfMT" section. The two honorary presidents Hermann Rauhe and Elmar Lampson discuss the innovations during their terms of office with the current president Jan-Philipp Sprick - and the resistance to too much change. Alumni and current students talk about the strengths of their university and their wishes for changing and expanding job profiles.
A cornucopia of events invites you to discover the creative forces of the university in the summer semester 2025 - whether at the Sound Night on May 1, the Great Summer Opera from June 1 or the Summer Festival on June 21.
