Quality management

The university is responsible for the further development of art and science in the fields of Music and Drama. It provides artistic and academic training and educates the next generation of artists and academics. The aim of its quality management system is to safeguard and develop studies and teaching.

Evaluation of studies and teaching is a central component of the university's internal quality management system and is regulated in the HfMT's evaluation regulations. Our evaluation procedures serve to ensure and continuously improve the quality of teaching and studies by regularly reviewing quality objectives and compliance with accreditation criteria. The university has various evaluation instruments at its disposal and has drawn up an evaluation calendar for its cyclical evaluations. The Quality Assurance Commission is responsible for developing the evaluation instruments and evaluating the HfMT's quality management system.

• The evaluation results are used to improve quality at the various levels of responsibility in accordance with the quality control loop.
• Survey results are published transparently in the hfmt-Nextcloud for all university members and are accessible via the intranet with the hfmt ID.

The quality management system for teaching and studies at the HfMT Hamburg received the official seal of approval from the Accreditation Council in 2017 : the Hamburg University of Music and Drama was the first university of the arts in Germany to successfully complete the system accreditation process; system re-accreditation is targeted for 2024.

Paragraph 11 of the Evaluation Regulations regulates the internal review of study programs. All degree programs are subject to the internal accreditation procedure according to a fixed schedule. An Internal Accreditation Commission is appointed for the internal review of study programs. It has established its own rules of procedure. The basis for the internal accreditation of study programs is a self-report and an on-site visit by the IA Commission.
