Promotion music therapy
Research at the Institute of Music Therapy is often linked to doctoral projects.
The focus of research activities at the Institute of Music Therapy has so far been on qualitative music therapy research. However, historical, quantitative-empirical and mixed-method studies have also been carried out at the Institute. Due to the expansion of the cooperation with the UKE (University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf) and the current change in the management of the institute, clinical research will become more important in the future.
Since 1993, an independent music therapy doctoral procedure with colloquium has been established at the Institute (Dr.sc.mus.). To date, 40 doctoral procedures have been completed here.
Since 2012, the Institute's doctorates have been anchored in the university's joint Dr.phil. doctoral committee (Dr. phil.). To date, there are four completed and four ongoing procedures.
