Application to the HfMT

Welcome - we are delighted that you are interested in studying at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama. On our information pages on the application procedure you will find all the information you need about the online application, the requirements and certificates and the details of the entrance examination.

Successful participation in the artistic-academic entrance examination for the desired degree program is a prerequisite for studying at the HfMT HH. This applies to an application for the first semester and also in the case of a change of university for continuation in a higher semester.

You must submit a number of documents and provide evidence as part of your application.

The language of instruction in most degree programs at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama is German. The colloquial language in the administrative and service areas is also German. Applicants who have not completed their Abitur in Germany must therefore provide proof of a good knowledge of German at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages as a prerequisite for admission to a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in addition to proof of artistic and academic aptitude.

Students must expect to pay certain fees, insurance and living expenses during the course of their studies. The following overview contains the most important costs excluding living expenses and insurance costs.

All applicants must prove their artistic and academic aptitude for studying at the university in an entrance examination.
