Scholarships

HfMT offers a limited number of scholarships dedicated to international degree seeking students.  Applications can be submitted at the beginning of each summer semester, the selection is made by HfMT's International Working Group (AKI). The offer varies from year to year, so we recommend an individual consultation at the International Office:

• Leistungsstipendium: Merit scholarship of the Hamburg authority for science, research and equality - for students with outstanding achievements.
• Stipendium für besonders engagierte Studierende: Scholarship for highly committed and helpful students, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs - for students who are particularly committed to help others and have good language skills.
• Stipendium für Inklusion: Scholarship for greater equality of opportunity, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs - for students with refugee background | children | first academics | health issues
• Abschlussstipendium des Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienstes (DAAD): Completion scholarship of the DAAD, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs - for students who plan to graduate in the current or the next semester.

We have changed the application process to an online only format. "Analogue" applications are no longer accepted. Here the link  to our application portal

Deadline for all scholarships  =  15^th May of each year!

Please make sure you that have the following documents available to upload into the online portal (in PDF format):

• Current certificate of enrolment from the HfMT
• Tabular curriculum vitae
• Recent letter of recommendation from a HfMT lecturer (not older than 1 year)
• Proof of academic achievements at the HfMT = ToR Transcript of Records (available from the Student Office; please make sure to ask for the ToR at least 4 weeks before the deadline!)
• If applicable, a list of those courses from previous semesters that have not yet been recorded in the ToR
• Bank statement for the last 3 months (current account and, if applicable, blocked account)
• Copy of university entrance qualification (e.g. Abitur, High School Diploma, A-Levels, Baccalauréat, etc.)

    If you apply also for the one of the options “Engegament” and/or “Inclusion” you will also need

• Proof of social engagement (e.g. certificates, references, etc.), not older than 2 years (for the criterion ‘special commitment’)
• Signed Declaration of Honour (for the criterion ‘greater equality of opportunity’); it can be downloaded in the application portal once it is opened
