Scholarships for international students
In addition to the scholarships for all students, there are special scholarships aimed at international students. Applications can be submitted at the beginning of each semester, and the selection is made by HfMT's International Working Group (AKI). The offer varies from year to year, so we recommend an individual consultation at the International Office.
Scholarships offered by HfMT: New Deadline =7th April each year!
- Merit scholarship: Merit scholarship of the Hamburg authority for science, research and equality. Students with outstanding achievements
- Abschlussstipendium des Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienstes (DAAD): Completion scholarship of the DAAD, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs - for students who plan to graduate in the current or the next semester
Scholarship for highly committed and helpful students: Scholarship for highly committed and helpful students, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs - for students who are particularly committed to help others and have good language skills

If you want to start preparing an application for the call April 7th now - which we highly advise -, please make sure you have the following documents available to upload them (in PDF format):
- Tabular curriculum vitae
- Letter of recommendation from a HfMT lecturer
- Proof of academic achievements at the HfMT = ToR Transcript of Records (available from the Student Office)
- If applicable, a list of those courses from previous semesters that have not yet been recorded in the ToR
- Current certificate of enrolment from the HfMT
- Bank statement (current account and, if applicable, blocked account) for the last 3 months
- Copy of university entrance qualification (e.g. Abitur, High School Diploma, A-Levels, Baccalauréat, etc.)Only if you apply for these options you will also need
- Proof of social engagement (e.g. certificates, references, etc.), not older than 2 years (for the criterion 'special commitment')
- Signed declaration of honor (for the criterion 'greater equality of opportunity'); it can be downloaded in the application portal once it is opened
Scholarships offered by Studierendenwerk Hamburg:
Examination support for foreign students: international students in their study completion phase and in financial need and

DAAD Prize
The DAAD Prize for an excellent foreign student is awarded annually. A proposal can be made at any time by HfMT lecturers by email to international[at]hfmt-hamburg.de; the proposal must be supplemented by a brief appraisal. A decision is made by the International Affairs Working Group (AKI), which meets in April and October.
