Elena Khurgina, HfMT harpsichord student in the classes of Prof. Menno van Delft and Prof. Carsten Lohff, has won first prize at the Dutch competition and festival for harpsichord and new music "Annelie de Man" 2023.

The festival, now in its 6th year, took place from 29 November to 3 December 2023 in the Organ Park in Amsterdam and offered a varied program full of contemporary music, both by Dutch and international composers, up-and-coming stars and names.

Elena Khurgina was born in Kharkiv (Ukraine) and started piano lessons at the age of five. She graduated from the Gnessin State Academy of Music (Moscow) as a pianist with Prof. Vera Nosina in 2013. At the age of twelve, Elena decided to study harpsichord and historical performance practice as a second subject/instrument and pursued this path throughout her further education. She became a member of the Cantus Firmus orchestra as a soloist and basso continuo player, performed in the Moscow Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra with musicians such as Alexey Utkin and Christian Zacharias in halls such as the Moscow Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Moscow Conservatory and at various venues in the South Urals, Ukraine, the Netherlands and Italy.
In 2017 Elena moved to Germany to focus on historical performances. She is currently studying harpsichord at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama with Prof. Menno van Delft and Prof. Carsten Lohff.
She has participated in masterclasses with Elisabeth Joyé, Menno van Delft, Skip Sempé, Christophe Rousset, Goska Isphording and has performed at various festivals and concerts in Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne in various halls: Elbphilharmonie, Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, Universität der Künste (Berlin), etc. She has performed as a soloist and with various ensembles, e.g. with the Hamburg Camerata.
