In the seventh heaven of harps

Anaëlle Tourret, a graduate of Xavier de Maistre's class, is the new solo harpist with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester

"When the result of the audition was announced, I could hardly believe it," says the newly qualified solo harpist. "My gratitude goes above all to Professor Xavier de Maistre, with whom I studied for four years and completed both the Master's degree and the concert exam. He is a fantastic teacher who has incredible experience both as a soloist and as an orchestral musician."
This career leap so soon after her studies is all the more astonishing as Anaëlle first came to Germany five years ago. "I couldn't speak a single word of German at the time and would never have thought at first that I would gain a foothold here and come so far in such a relatively short time. The fact that I am now a permanent member of this outstanding orchestra is like a dream. And then there's this incredible concert hall in the Elbphilharmonie, whose "birth" I witnessed live."

About his vita:
Trained by Ghislaine Petit-Volta, Nicolas Tulliez and Prof. Xavier de Maistre, Anaëlle Tourret received her Master's degree from the Hamburg University of Music and Drama in 2015 and completed her studies a year later with a concert exam.
In 2015, Anaëlle Tourret won 2nd prize overall at the 19th International Harp Competition in Israel, which is regarded as the most important competition for this instrument. She is also a prizewinner at the Lily Laskine International Competition and the equally prestigious Félix Godefroid International Competition.
Anaëlle Tourret regularly performs solo concerts, chamber music (Festival La Clef des Portes, Musique au Perche) or harp concerts, e.g. with the Riga Symphony Orchestra (Latvia) or the Orchestre National des Jeunes d'Ile de France.
She has performed as solo harpist with the Prométhée Orchestra in Paris and plays with renowned orchestras such as the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Sinfonieorchester, the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra (Hamburg State Opera), the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Helsingborg Symphonic Orchestra (Sweden) - under conductors such as Esa-Pekka Salonen, Mikko Franck, Christoph Eschenbach, Thomas Hengelbrock, Vassili Petrenko, Kent Nagano and Eugene Tzigane.
Thanks to her interest in modern repertoire, she works with composers such as Alain Louvier, Menachem Wiesenberg, Ami Maayani, Michel Lysight and Tomas Koljatic. With the latter, she is currently accompanying the public launch of the MIDI harp at the IRCAM (Research Institute for Acoustics/Music at the Centre Pompidou in Paris). Anaëlle is a fellow of the Lucerne Festival Academy and Artist in Residence at the Festival d'Aix en Provence 2017.
