Rebecca Trescher Quartet

Friday, 10/20/2023 20:00 HfMT, JazzHall

For almost ten years, the leading composer and clarinettist Rebecca Trescher and her ensembles have been achieving excellence in the truest sense of the word: new audible horizons, subtly located between jazz and contemporary serious music. The interplay of plan and freedom creates acoustic journeys along Trescher's sensitive compositions. Both musically and in the line-up of her band, the Tübingen-born musician relies on her free spirit and gift for combination.
Last year, the musician was honored with the German Jazz Award for "Composition of the Year 2022" for her work "Paris Cycle" and the international critics of the American cult magazine Down Beat voted for the 36-year-old Berliner-by-choice to win the Rising Star category for clarinet. She has performed on international concert stages, has released seven albums under her own name to date and has received numerous awards for her artistic work.
Now she has put together a top-class quartet consisting of the instrumental virtuoso and her long-time companion Andreas Feith on piano, the renowned bassist Christian Diener and the great drummer Moritz Baumgärtner, one of Berlin's hottest musicians. These strong characters will once again put the composer's works through the mincer and explore the boundaries of composition, improvisation and interpretation anew.
