Can sounds heal? How does a robot paint? And what does a painting by Matisse or Dalí actually sound like? From 9 to 28 February 2024, the ligeti zentrum will be presenting an exhibition and accompanying program in Hamburg's Central Library: a very diverse selection of works and joint projects - between computer music, health, robotics and VR experiences.
The Healing Soundscapes project, for example, aims to improve the sonic environment in healthcare facilities through targeted sound installations. The aim is to increase the well-being of patients and staff. The Moving Sound Pictures project makes it possible to move directly into famous paintings in virtual space using VR glasses and make music interactively. There will also be a variety of exciting activities such as a painting competition between children and robots, an audio walk to explore the library or a station for sound art and sampling - all for people aged 3 to 99. The two-day program of installations, interactive stations and workshops on 9 and 10 February 2024 will be framed by an exhibition, which can be viewed during regular opening hours until 28 February 2024 in the historic columned hall of the Central Library.
The ligeti center is a joint project of the University of Music and Drama, the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, the Hamburg University of Technology and the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Joint Science Conference. LIGETI stands for Laboratories for Innovation and Social Development through the Transfer of Ideas. In other words, the center brings research to the outside world through targeted offers and gains new insights through input from urban society, which in turn can inspire new research.
There will be an exhibition with a selection of works from 09.02. to 28.02.2024 in the Säulenhalle.
There will be a program with workshops and much more on 09.02. and 10.02.2024 in the main deck of the Central Library.
