Description

No special IT knowledge is required for this course. Knowledge of notation software is an advantage, but not strictly necessary. There are various options for the individual selection and recommendation of learning content. These include: Music Notation Overview (music notation, incl. music notation and music printing), Music Coding Overview (Sound Related Codes, Music Related Codes, incl. DARMS, and ABC), Introduction to XML Technologies (XML, MEI), Text Editors, Visualization. XML in particular stands for "Extensible Markup Language". XML languages are used to represent text files in a format that can also be read by machines. XML is particularly easy for humans to read. MEI is XML-based and stands for "Music Encoding Initiative". Due to its great popularity and many fields of application, MEI is now a must-have for graduates of artistic, educational and scientific courses.
