Description

This is an introduction to C-style syntax in order to provide a beginning foundation for coding in JavaScript (JS), Node.js and GenExpr (Codebox). Students will learn to integrate procedural and object-oriented JS code within a Max patcher environment, design a graphical user interface, build a simple server using Node and manipulate audio signal data from within Gen's code box. (These skills may also serve the student in Max's RNBO extension.) Time permitting we might also look at Max's new V8 features. Due to the scope of topics and short time period, this seminar is structured as a pragmatic survey rather than a focused, in-depth course. Students are required to have Max software (Cycling 74) able to run JS, Node and GenExpr.

Literature

Max 8 or 9 software (Cycling 74).
