Description

The seminar introduces the basics of theater studies and deals with basic concepts of theater such as performance, theatricality, performativity, acting, space, body, audience and related theoretical approaches. To this end, a text or text excerpt is read independently each week as homework and discussed together in the session. In addition to dealing with the basics of the performing arts, we also practise reading theoretical texts. The selection includes texts by Hans-Thies Lehmann, Erika Fischer-Lichte, Denis Diderot, Josette Féral, Judith Butler and others.
