Description

The seminar begins with Mozart's Symphony No. 39. This work will be used as an example to explore certain harmonic phenomena that are characteristic of the Classical and Romantic periods. The development of these phenomena up to the end of the 19th century will be systematically presented. In addition, an arc of harmonic development will be traced that extends to the limits of the major-minor tonal system. The works presented in the seminar will be analyzed with the aim of deciphering their inherent compositional logic in terms of micro- and macrostructure.
