Im Konzert und im Gespräch über Solo-Improvisiation.

Mit dem SPIIC Lecture Concert no.14 eröffnen wir den dreitägigen Besuch des New Yorker Trompeters, Komponisten und Improvisators Peter Evans an der HfMT. Im ersten Teil des Abends wird Peter Evans seine Solo-Musik vorstellen und ein Gespräch mit Vlatko Kučan darüber führen. Zum zweiten Set kommen Mark Nauseef (percussion), Adam Linson (bass) und Vlatko Kučan (reeds) dazu, um gemeinsam mit Peter Evans ein Quartett der ganz besonderen Art zu formieren.
Peter Evans ist Teil einer breiten, hybriden Szene musikalischer Experimente, seine Arbeit erstreckt sich über ein breites Spektrum moderner musikalischer Praktiken und Traditionen. Er setzt sich für den gleichzeitig selbstbestimmenden und kollaborativen Charakter der musikalischen Improvisation als kompositorisches Mittel ein und arbeitet mit einer ständig wachsenden Gruppe von Musikerinnen und Komponistinnen an der Schaffung neuer Musik. Er gilt als eine der führenden Stimmen im Bereich der Solo-Improvisation und begann seine Arbeit unter dem Einfluss der Werke von improvisierenden Komponisten wie Evan Parker, Anthony Braxton, Milford Graves, Barry Guy, Roscoe Mitchell und vielen anderen.
Mark Nauseef und Adam Linson spielen gemeinsam mit Peter Evans in Evan Parker's Electro-Acoustic Ensemble, das bereits im viel beachteten SPIIC Special Event '20 zu Gast an der HfMT war.
