"Let's not stop building bridges"

University President Elmar Lampson on the current situation in Ukraine (English version below)
© Christina Körte

Dear students, dear colleagues,

At this difficult time, I turn to you all to pause for a moment and think of the people in Ukraine who are suffering unspeakably.

Culture, as we understand it, is an expression of peace. As a cultural institution, we are powerless in the face of violence and war. Our strength is a differentiated view, vigilance against propaganda and lies, the attempt to understand and build bridges and the will to help where we can. In our artistic and academic work, we are committed to the individual, regardless of their origin or nationality.

I would like to call out to the students and staff from all affected countries: Let's not stop building these bridges in our daily interactions here at the HfMT and please contact your lecturers, the members of the subject groups, the heads of the deaneries, the members of the Presidential Board and also me directly if you need help.

Yours sincerely

Elmar Lampson

Dear students, dear colleagues,

I am reaching out to you in this difficult hour to pause for a moment and think of all the people in Ukraine who are suffering unimaginably.

Culture, as we understand it, is an expression of peace. As a cultural institution, we are powerless in the face of violence and war. Our strength is a differentiated perspective, vigilance against propaganda and lies, to understand and build bridges, and the will to help where we can. In our artistic and academic work, we are committed to the individual human being, regardless of their origin and nationality.

I would like to call upon students and colleagues from all the affected countries to not stop building these bridges in our daily work and life at the HfMT. I further encourage you to contact your teachers, the members of your departments, the heads of the dean's offices, the members of the presidium, and also me directly, if you need any help in this difficult situation.

With kind regards
Yours
Elmar Lampson
