Dominic Harrison, a student in Prof. Holger Nell’s percussion class at the HfMT, wins the “Northern European Young Talent Jazz Contest 2019” in Groningen

Dominic Harrison, a drummer in Holger Nell’s class at the HfMT Hamburg, won the “Northern European Jazz Talent Contest”—a competition for emerging artists held as part of the “Swinging Groningen 2019” festival—on June 20.
At the invitation of the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, the best young talents from various European cities—including Stockholm, Aarhus, Tallinn, and Hamburg—compete annually for the prize, which is worth €1,000. The prize is awarded by a select jury.

With a stylistically confident, technically impressive, and musically refined performance, Dominic Harrison won over the jury. He is thus the first German to receive an award in this competition.
