From 10 to 16 May 2026, Hamburg-Harburg will become the international center for computer-based music: around 300 scientists, musicians and developers from all over the world will come together for the International Computer Music Conference (ICMC). In addition to an extensive specialist program, numerous concerts and events are also aimed at the public.

Since its foundation in 1974, the annual ICMC has been considered one of the most important platforms for computer-based music. It combines artistic practice and scientific research and is dedicated to the presentation and discussion of the latest developments in music technology, artificial intelligence, interactive systems and immersive audio formats. The motto of this year's edition is "Innovation, Translation, Participation."

ICMC HAMBURG 2026 is organized by the Hamburg University of Music and Drama (HfMT), the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW) and the University Medical Center Hamburg- Eppendorf (UKE). The content focus recognizes the transfer approach of the jointly founded ligeti center.

The ICMC HAMBURG 2026 kicked off on May 10 in the Small Hall of the Elbphilharmonie. In the following days, the concert program will continue in Audimax 2 of the TUHH, in the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle and in the Stellwerk Hamburg, among others. Works by international composers will be performed by renowned ensembles and soloists, including Ensemble Resonanz, Ensemble 404, the SPIIC+ Ensemble, saxophonist Asya Fateyeva and double bassist John Eckardt.

In addition to the conference programme, the accompanying festival Off-ICMC, organized by ligeti zentrum, is aimed specifically at the general public. Under the motto "Music in our digital age", it invites you to free workshops, performances, installations and a science slam in the newly renovated Kultur Palast Harburg. The aim is to make current developments in research and art accessible to a diverse audience.

The complete ICMC program is available online. Access to all events is via conference registration; day tickets and tickets for selected concerts are also available. Participation in Off-ICMC events is free of charge.
