Dr. Silke Wenzel, born in Bad Mergentheim, first studied historical dance in Paris and then musicology, music practice, Romance studies and archaeology in Weimar and Jena. In 2013, she completed her doctorate at the University of Hamburg with a thesis on Lieder, Lärmen, L'Homme armé. Music and War 1460-1600 for her doctorate. She has been editor of the portal "Music and Gender on the Internet" (MUGI) since 2015 and co-editor since 2022. She works as a lecturer for special tasks at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama and has specialized in transnational content in musicology, including the overview lecture "Music History Global".

Roxana Mondragón grew up in Mérida-Venezuela and received violin lessons from the age of 4 at "El Sistema", Venezuela. At the age of 14 she took horn lessons for the first time, where her love and joy for playing the horn began. In 2015, Roxana began her Bachelor's degree in Music of Arts with a major in horn at the Universidad de los Andes Venezuela; since 2020 she has been studying instrumental pedagogy at the HfMT Hamburg.

Luiz de Godoy is a pianist, conductor and music teacher. His busy and varied concert schedule has already taken him to 26 countries and enabled him to work with a wide variety of ensembles and musicians, including the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonics, Bobby McFerrin and the Rolling Stones. He is a sought-after speaker at choir weeks, conducts conducting courses - including as a lecturer at the HfMT Hamburg - and acts as a juror at competitions. Politically, he is committed to an egalitarian approach to musical education and to education in the areas of anti-racism and decolonization in music.

Adriano da Silva Trarbach (born 2001), Brazilian recorder and cellist, has been living in Germany since 2018, when he received a scholarship for an exchange year. Born in S. Jerônimo-RS, Brazil, he began learning the recorder and later the cello in 2011 as part of the Dorcas project, which supports children and young people in the social neighborhood of Bonfim in the Curitiba-PR metropolitan region. He is currently studying cello in Prof. Clemens Malich's class at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama, where he also successfully completed his recorder studies with Prof. Peter Holtslag in the summer of 2023. Adriano is also intensively involved in baroque cello playing. In the 2024 season, he will join the renowned Ensemble Holland Baroque as a Young Fellow.

Adriana Soares grew up with the choro tradition in her home town of Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais), where she regularly took part in the traditional Rodas de Choro. Her main instrument in choro is the rhythm instrument pandeiro. After many years of teaching as a music teacher in Brazil, she began studying classical flute at "Mensch Musik" in fall 2022 and started to initiate further musical projects with Brazilian popular music in Hamburg.

Nikolai Voigt completed his master's degree in guitar at the HfMT Hamburg in summer 2023. As part of his studies, he spent two and a half years in South America studying traditional popular music. He spent most of this time learning the seven-string guitar in Brazil and received lessons from various masters of choro music. Since returning to Hamburg in spring 2022, he has enlivened the choro scene and performs regularly in various ensembles. He is also a guitar teacher at the Hamburg Youth Music School.

Diversity Study Weeks

Under the motto Diversity can Inspire, the HfMT is organizing the Diversity Study Weeks in the winter semester 2023/24. Together we celebrate diversity, because it is not just a buzzword, but the heart of our interaction and creative development at an artistic and academic university.

During the six Study Weeks, we will deal with the following topics: Inclusion, classism, proximity & distance, anti-discrimination and participation in education, coloniality and equality for women, inter-, trans- and non-binary people. To this end, we have organized panels, artistic events, lecture series, seminars and much more. These events enrich the range of courses on offer and are open not only to all students, but also to lecturers and staff at the university and, in some cases, external visitors. Come along!

Embedded in the Study Weeks is a lecture series on intersectional topics. Through an artistic-scientific approach, the lecture series aims to raise awareness of the diversity present at the HfMT in all its forms, as well as to identify gaps in diversity and investigate their causes.
