MUGI turns 20 ◊ Two decades of "Music and gender on the internet"
In 2004, MUGI (Music and Gender on the Internet) went online as a freely accessible research and publication platform with the first articles and is now the oldest, still active online research project at the HfMT. The aim is to further develop musicological gender research in Europe and its anchoring in the discourse of musicology and cultural studies. In addition to a lexicon, which now includes more than 600 personal articles with lists of works, sources and literature, collections of materials and research references, the multimedia presentations are an integral part of MUGI, in which female musicians and gender-relevant topics are presented. MUGI is edited by Beatrix Borchard, founder at the HfMT Hamburg, Nina Noeske (HfM Weimar) and Silke Wenzel (HfMT Hamburg).
The celebration will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 10:00 am at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama, where the birthday girl will be honored in a public event with lectures, music and a roundtable. In the evening, pianist Lauma Skride will play Fanny Hensel's piano cycle "The Year"; the concert will be moderated by Beatrix Borchard.
