The Axel Fischbacher Trio has been around for many years, and yet Fischbacher always refers to his band as his "new trio", because that's how it feels every time they're on stage together: new! A stroke of luck in the life of every musician.
As a committed live band, they recorded a "direct-to-disc" LP, a process that was standard long before digital recording possibilities, whereby a complete LP side is cut live directly into the blank from which the subsequent LPs are pressed. No tricks, no touch-ups! Among the few studios that still mastered and offered this technique was the legendary Abbey Road Studio in London, undoubtedly the "Rolls Royce" of European recording studios. The LP "The London Session", which was recorded there, was released in a limited and numbered edition at the beginning of September. The recording documents Fischbacher's compositions with a wonderful, direct and lively sound. Here they play with the music and its elements, improvise - juggle. The three musicians' willingness to take risks makes every concert different, but always a unique (and unrepeatable) experience.
The two days in the Abbey Road Studios were also documented visually. With commentary by Axel Fischbacher himself, the 35-minute making-of film takes the viewer into the legendary rooms of Studio 3 at Abbey Road Studios, where Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" was recorded.
The concert by the Axel Fischbacher Trio following the film takes on a very special significance after these insights.
