A Summer Conversation with Michael Göring
Thursday, 07/09/2026 19:30 HfMT, JazzHall

Foundations shape the society of tomorrow—based on the observations and challenges of the present. They have a particularly significant impact in the fields of culture, media, and education: This evening will focus on what it takes to develop ideas, build networks, initiate implementation, and ensure long-term effectiveness. Drawing on Michael Göring’s experiences, we look ahead: What role can foundations play in times of change—and how can responsibility be structured so that projects endure beyond individual people?
Prof. Dr. Michael Göring has been a professor at the KMM Institute since 2000. From 1997 to 2021, he served as a board member and chairman of the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius in Hamburg and has played a key role in shaping the German foundation landscape. For the University of Music and Drama—and especially the KMM Institute—he has been a key driving force behind its further development and has initiated and helped establish structures, such as the first full-time endowed professorship.
