Erasmus+ Outgoing (SMS)
The content on this page was translated automatically.
With Erasmus+, students can study at a European university in another participating country after completing their first year of study in order to expand their social, cultural and academic skills. You will get to know a different academic system as well as new teaching and learning methods. For concrete planning, an e-mail should be sent to about a year before each Erasmus stay. Ideas should already be formulated in this e-mail and, if possible, at least one host university and the period of study abroad should be specified. Obligations and rights for students in the Erasmus+ program are specified in the "Erasmus+ Study Charter" (see below).
Prerequisites
Students enrolled at the HfMT who have already completed their first year of study can participate (does not apply to the Master's program). The host university must have a valid Erasmus University Charter (ECHE) and conclude an Erasmus+ cooperation agreement with the HfMT.
Information on the application process
From February 2024, the application procedures will be changed throughout Europe. Most of our partner universities will use the new online platform "EASY Mobility Online", but most of the new portals have not yet been activated. Information on the application procedures at the universities of your choice should therefore be checked from time to time on the respective website of the foreign institution.
It is important to note that the first step in the application process is now usually via the International Office at the HfMT.
Checklist application process
Application to the HfMT via the EASY Mobility Online portal.
DEADLINE for the application to the HfMT: Sunday, February 18, 2024
- Following your online application to the HfMT, we will "nominate" you at your preferred university (possibly at several preferred universities).
- Following the nomination, you will be asked by the application portal of the university of your choice by automated e-mail to register there as well within the deadline and to upload the documents again; unfortunately, we cannot say at the moment exactly how far in advance of the nomination this will take place. In any case, a deadline will also apply here, so please pay attention:
- when applying to the HfMT, make sure you enter an e-mail address that actually works
- to keep an eye on it on a daily basis, including the spam folder
- After your timely registration / application at the university of your choice, the selection will take place there (exception: KMM; here the selection takes place internally at KMM).
- You will be informed of the result by e-mail; experience has shown that this can take up to 8 weeks.
Please read the application instructions on the "Erasmus incomings" websites of your chosen universities carefully(!) so that you do not miss any deadlines.
The following documents are required for uploading to the portal:
- a passport photo
- a letter of motivation written for the university of your choice in English or in the respective national language
- a curriculum vitae in tabular form in English or in the respective national language
- current proof of artistic qualification
- Instrumental music courses: a recording of up to three pieces from different eras lasting approx. 15-20 minutes in total, reflecting the current level of performance (YouTube link or similar)
- Composers: sheet music
- Theater studies: film recording that reflects the current level of performance (YouTube link or similar)
A letter of recommendation from the main subject teacher (English) can support the application process, but does not have to be available at the time of application to the HfMT.

General information on Erasmus+
The Erasmus+ programme offers many advantages over other exchange programmes due to the standardization of processes. These include:
- Simplified application procedure at the host university.
- Exemption from any tuition fees.
- A monthly grant towards maintenance costs abroad according to country groups defined by the DAAD.
- Mutual recognition of academic achievements between universities that have concluded a bilateral agreement (guaranteed by agreements in the Learning Agreement)
- Online Linguistic Support (OLS); tutored online courses are offered in 24 European languages.
- Students participating in Erasmus+ must take an online language test both before the start and after the end of their stay abroad.
- Erasmus+ reporting obligation: All recipients of funding who have taken part in an Erasmus+ mobility measure are obliged to prepare a report on the Mobility Tool Plus at the end of the measure and submit it together with the relevant evidence (e.g. certificate with exact dates of stay).
