Entrance examination for school music/teaching degree secondary level I and II

The application period for the winter semester 2025/26 for the Bachelor's degree programs in School Music begins on 01.12.24 and ends on 01.04.25. For the Master's degree programs in School Music, the application period for the winter semester 2025/26 begins on 15.02.25 and ends on 01.04.25.

The following steps are required for a successful application for the teaching subject of school music within the teacher training programs within the application deadline:

• Receipt of online application incl. upload of supporting documents
• Receipt of application fee (payment information at the end of the completed online application)

Your application will only be considered if all the steps described have been completed in full within the application deadline and the online application and application fee have been received.

Intensive music theory course

In cooperation with the Deutscher Tonkünstler:innenverband Hamburg, an intensive course in music theory and aural training is offered and recommended, further information will follow here soon.

The dates for the annual information event with exam simulation for the entrance examination are published here and on the website of the Bundesverband Musikunterricht (BMU).

The information event is recommended as preparation for the entrance examination. It is organized in cooperation with the Young Forum Music Teaching Hamburg (JFM). This initiative is made up exclusively of students and, as a bridge between studying and working, promotes dialog between prospective students, students, trainee teachers and teachers, e.g. also through its own workshops.

The entrance examination will take place from 12.05.-16.05.2025 in face-to-face format.
