Description

Dear Homies, dear students,

our summer semester for the seminar "Cultural Studies Hip Hop" starts on April 13, 2026 in the Cypher Höhle, room U11 Budge at 3:30 pm.

The seminar is offered by the Diversity Studies / Cultural Studies Hip Hop of the HfMT for students of all disciplines who want to deal with the largest youth culture in the world and the pop cultural discourses related to it. In the sense of "artistic research", practical aspects also play a role. Among other things, the HfMT has therefore agreed a cooperation with the Hip Hop Academy Hamburg.

This semester, we will be examining the history of hip hop and relevant topics such as German rap, female and conscious rap, Black American history and its impact on today's youth culture. In addition, rap subgenres such as the Golden Era, Dirty South, G-Funk, Trap and new styles will be examined.

We will also feature illustrious guests who will tell us about rap and hip hop culture from their perspective. Last semester, for example, Torch and Jan Delay were in the seminar.

And if you dont know - now you know

Dr. Benjamin Sprick and Jan Schlüter aka. Slim Schludy
