In the winter semester of 2026–27, the Millennium Piano seminar will once again focus exclusively on piano music from our own 21st century. The seminar will examine important piano works from the years 2000–2026 and culminate in the preparation of a creatively designed final concert at the end of the semester.
The seminar covers the entire spectrum of piano music from the past 26 years; where appropriate, connections to the music of the 20th century or earlier centuries will also be explored. The seminar participants’ own ideas are expressly encouraged and will be incorporated into the seminar’s thematic design.
The seminar has a strong practical component: wherever possible, pieces and techniques are explored through improvisation, and works are performed collaboratively. The format of the final concert is developed collectively by the seminar group over the course of the semester.- Credits
