In the summer semester 2026, the Millennium Piano seminar will concentrate on developing a concert contribution for the Week of Contemporary Music organized by Prof. Gordon Kampe every two years in the Forum of the HfMT.
The seminar group of the summer semester 2026, together with the seminar group of the winter semester 25/26 and other interested students, will develop a program with exciting piano works from the years 2000 - 2026. The aim of the seminar is not only the preparation and presentation of the works themselves, but also the joint development of a creative concert design for the program.
The seminar will cover the entire spectrum of piano music from the last 26 years. The works played will be selected by the seminar participants at the beginning of the semester from a wide-ranging repertoire list of piano music from 2000 - 2026, although their own repertoire ideas are also expressly welcome.
The selected pieces will be presented, discussed and contextualized for the fellow students in a workshop-like manner during the seminar dates. At the same time, they will consider and try out together how the individual pieces can be combined as seamlessly as possible to create an atmospherically dense overall program.
The final product of the seminar is the festival concert in the Forum, while the remaining seminar dates are used to review and discuss some important reference works of contemporary piano music.- Credits
