- Description
Like all of us, composers have to deal with everyday things. They face the same problems, observe similar scenes, have to deal with certain objects or processes or have unpleasant tasks to complete. However, their gaze repeatedly falls on various aspects of our environment, which not only attract their interest, but can also immediately become impulses for an artistic exploration. Which everyday objects or sounds do artists focus on? Which social issues, socio-cultural phenomena or practices become the subject or even concrete components of music?
Based on the works of Carola Bauckholt, Neo Hülcker, Michael Maierhof, Birgitta Muntendorf, Martin Schüttler and Manos Tsangaris, for example, the seminar will focus on transformation processes between the auditory, visual and social media of everyday use and compositional musical contexts. Last but not least, the seminar aims to use these diverse strategies for engaging with the world(s) as a starting point for developing ideas for music education that make these very contemporary references their own.- Literature
