Description

Our traditional music is interwoven with a network of recurring movement models that exist across epochs and individual styles. We want to "grasp" these on the instrument. Against the background of the general, we perceive the particular characteristics of a period or a composer. The focus is less on the chord and more on the melody, the movement of both hands in the melodic area. The aim is to link their movements inseparably with each other and thus acquire the freedom to shape large musical contexts in an imaginative yet controlled manner. This fundamental sovereignty is the prerequisite for constantly surprising oneself. This is not an annoying disruption of the playful continuum, but an inspiring and sometimes humorous enrichment. Our journey takes us through different times and styles, whereby our own improvisational creativity can be reflected in traditional compositions. The proximity to the experience of playing literature, the basso continuo and liturgical organ playing comes naturally. The following styles are available: mid-18th century piano fantasy, suite, chaconne, Mozart/Haydn song variation, Bach-style chorale arrangement and partita, fugue, Byrd/Sweelinck fantasy, Ländler (Schubert), mazurka and nocturne (Chopin), intermezzo (Brahms), modal improvisation forms and piano movement studies (Debussy, Bartók).
