On November 22, 2025, the ligeti zentrum at Veritaskai 1 in Hamburg-Harburg will open its doors from 11 am to 6 pm. A varied daytime program offers exciting insights into the interdisciplinary projects at the interfaces between the arts, science, technology and health - with interactive stations to participate in.

How do contemporary arts influence science and digital technologies - and vice versa? And what happens when four Hamburg universities with different thematic focuses and methodological approaches bring their expertise together? Since May 2023, members of the HfMT Hamburg, HAW Hamburg, TUHH and the UKE have been researching these questions in the ligeti center in an interdisciplinary way and in dialogue with the public. This has resulted in a wide range of formats - from workshops, concerts and exhibitions to diverse collaborations with regional and international partners. The ligeti center is now opening its doors for the first time at the halfway point of its funding from the federal-state initiative "Innovative University". On November 22, the labs and projects will show what they are working on from 11 am to 6 pm. True to the motto "Hands-on innovation", the focus will be on personal exchange and creative experimentation.

Many of the ligeti center's projects are better shown than explained
"It is actually long overdue that we open our doors to all interested parties after the opening in 2023," says Nadine Schwalb, Head of the Agency for Placement and Social Participation. "Many of the ligeti center's projects are better shown than explained. On the open day, we would therefore like to invite you to get active and try things out for yourself at numerous interactive stations. From the robot playground and virtual reality to our open synthesizer session, there's something for everyone."

The program: join in and try it out
It starts at 11 am in the Production Lab. After a second joint breakfast with coffee and French rolls, a panel discussion on the question "Innovative. Interdisciplinary. International. Why does science need the arts?". The day will continue with a varied program with spatial audio listening sessions, film screenings, impulse talks and prototype demonstrations. The musical finale will be a lecture concert by SPIIC+, which will bring the day to a close at 5 pm in a cozy atmosphere with drinks.

The visit to the ligeti center is free of charge and does not require registration.
