Laboratory for new forms of theater
Tuesday, 06/04/2024 16:30 Thalia in der Gaußstraße

For the 20th time, the "Körber Studio Junge Regie" invites directing students from German-speaking universities to present their productions and exchange ideas with the audience and each other. As a platform for new forms of theater, the festival will showcase a variety of topics and aesthetic approaches that the future generation of theater is dealing with from June 4 to 9, 2024. It offers space for encounters and discussions about productions, working methods and concepts and makes Hamburg a meeting place for young theater professionals, theater-interested audiences and the German-speaking theater scene.

In addition to the festival center at Thalia in Gaußstraße, productions will also be shown at "Campus Barmbek", the location of the Theaterakademie Hamburg at Wiesendamm 26.

After the performances, the audience will have the opportunity to find out more about the individual productions and talk to the directing teams and ensembles. The talks will be moderated by students from the Theaterakademie Hamburg.

The festival is a joint project of the Thalia Theater, the Körber Foundation and the Theaterakademie Hamburg under the patronage of the German Stage Association.

This year's contribution from the HfMT is Sophie Glaser's graduation production:

I'M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS
Körber Studio Junge Regie

Studio stage (Thalia Gaußstraße), Wednesday, 05.06.2024 at 21:00

"It's not that we can't accept or experience love and empathy,
but with whom? When there is no one? In the end, it's up to us, each of us. What
do we want to do? Carry on or not? Carry on like this?"

Lucy travels with Jake through the wintry landscape. It's her first visit to his parents' remote
farm. She has just one thought on her mind: It's time for it to end. There is no traffic on the road and the memories flash by like photos. But everything is blurred. And her cell phone keeps ringing, because a single question is waiting for an answer. The caller knew that from the start.

"I'm thinking of ending things" in a version by Enrico Bordieri and Sophie Glaser is a
adaptation of the novel of the same name by Iain Reid.
