From irritation to inspiration
Saturday, 10/25/2025 18:00 - 21:00 HfMT, Mendelssohn-Saal

How does listening change through active artistic action? How can music of
modernism, which is often perceived as merely irritating, expand our ability to actively
listen and hear as a whole? What concepts of time, space, power and form
do we find in it and in what different ways can we trace them
?
These questions are at the center of our event and seek their
answers in experience: In the multifaceted perception of a selected
musical composition. The focus is on the interaction of listening and movement.
Non-verbal moods, body perceptions, translations of what we hear into hands,
into lines accompany our activities.
The aim is to provide the participants with a variety of stimuli and access to expanded ways of listening to
. Experimental and artistic methods as well as sensual
perceptions open up new perspectives both in individual reflection and
in collective exchange.
In a short keynote speech, our guest Johannes Schulte Beckhausen gives an inspiring
view of listening.
