The painting robot and the language of the body
Thursday, 09/25/2025 18:00 - 20:30 ligeti zentrum, 10. OG

In this workshop, a painting robot is controlled by body movements and physical forms of expression. Participants will have the opportunity to develop a series of movements and body poses and assign specific emotions and appropriate color associations to them. These movements are then captured and analyzed using the MediaPipe computer vision library and the integrated webcam on their own laptops. The recorded data is used to create movement and emotion models that are trained with the help of machine learning algorithms. Based on these models, the robot is able to paint, with the shape and color of the drawing being determined directly by the participants' emotional movement patterns. No prior technical knowledge is required. It is only necessary to bring a laptop with an integrated webcam. The information used for the analysis and training is not image-based, but coordinate-based and therefore completely anonymous.

You will need your own laptop with an integrated webcam to conduct the workshop. It is possible to work in teams.
Basic knowledge of Python can be helpful, but is not necessary.

The workshop is free of charge.
