With the IkI Innovation Lab, the Institute for Cultural Innovation Research is launching a new format that presents new trends in the international jazz scene. Pianist Florian Weber, who is rooted in both the European avant-garde and modern jazz, is this year's artist in residence. In 2025, he was voted second best Rising Star - Keyboarder of the Year by DownBeat magazine.

Symposium: The IkI Innovation Lab will take place from 16 - 17 January from 10:30 - 16:00 at the Jazzhall Hamburg.
Concerts: In the evening, Florian Weber will perform in two concerts, each with different partners.

On Saturday, Florian Weber will present the world premiere of a composition for saxophone and piano together with Hamburg flutist, saxophonist and HfMT jazz alumna Anna-Lena Schnabel. They will then play in a trio with Stuttgart percussionist Michael Kiedaisch.
