Laboratory for new forms of theater
Thursday, 05/28/2026 15:00 verschiedene Veranstaltungsorte

For the 22nd time, Hamburg will become a meeting place for the theater generation of the future: from 27 to 31 May 2026, the Körber Studio Junge Regie will present productions by students of German-language directing courses who have been nominated for the festival by the universities.
As a laboratory for new forms of theater, the festival presents the diversity of topics and aesthetic approaches of the participating young theater professionals. It offers space for exchange about production methods and work processes - among themselves, with the audience and with visiting professionals from the theater scene.
Over five festival days, 13 productions are on the program at the festival center in the Thalia in Gaußstraße and in the Theaterakademie am Wiesendamm. These include a work by the international guest university, the Faculty of Dramatic Arts of the University of Belgrade, Serbia.
The Körber Studio Junge Regie is a joint project of the Thalia Theater, the Körber Foundation and the Theaterakademie Hamburg under the patronage of the German Stage Association.

We meet in Sirat - the place where, according to Islamic belief, people give an account of their actions on earth after death. This is where it is decided whether a person goes to paradise or hell. Perhaps the only moment in which we actually meet God - and the only opportunity to confront him with what happens on earth in his name. But to what extent is misogyny inherent in religion itself - or is it instrumentalized for this purpose? We bring the stories of women with us: Testimonies of cruel practices that they have suffered and which are always justified on religious grounds. These are the voices of women who found the courage to speak out about their experiences - and in doing so, shake up a system.
