JAZZHALL ENSEMBLE
The JazzHall Ensemble brings together selected master’s students from the jazz program at the HfMT Hamburg. Under the direction of Gabriel Coburger, the musicians meet regularly for intensive rehearsals to develop their own compositions into complex, modern arrangements. The result is a multi-layered, stylistically diverse set—full of energy, courage, and sonic curiosity.
PHENOMENA—With saxophonist Gabriel Coburger and multi-instrumentalist Friedrich Paravicini, the bassist and bandleader has assembled a colorful trio—here as a quartet with Roland Schneider—of headstrong musicians who bring the right colors to her compositions.
From grooves in unusual time signatures to free, ethereal improvisations or classically inspired works, anything is possible in Lisa Wulff’s compositions.
The three musicians—all highly skilled on various instruments—form a strong unit that embarks on an experimental sonic journey. In doing so, they take advantage of the freedom afforded by an ensemble without drums, create new sonic spaces, and surprise listeners with unprecedented instrumental combinations featuring the ondes Martenot, bass clarinet, and soprano bass.
