Staff Council

As an elected body of all employees in the public sector at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama on the basis of the HmbPersVG, the Staff Council monitors compliance with the rights and protective regulations of employees. It is open to legitimate suggestions and complaints from employees and is obliged to pass them on to the head of department and demand remedial action. It also supports severely disabled employees, trainees and foreign employees in integrating into the company. Its most important right is the general right of initiative to initiate measures that benefit the department and its employees.

Overview of tasks

The tasks of the Staff Council include co-determination in social, personnel and other matters at the HfMT, for example

- Recruitment of employees

- Changes to existing employment contracts (working hours, vacation, reassignments and transfers, dismissals)

- Applying for measures that benefit employees and the department

- ensuring compliance with the relevant regulations, ordinances, laws, service agreements and collective agreements

- to receive complaints and suggestions from HfMT employees and, if justified, to resolve them with the department

- and to perform all other duties of the Staff Council arising from the HmbPersVG

The Staff Council meets every Monday at 11 a.m. in a non-public session. We meet every second Monday of the month at the Barmbek campus, the other meetings take place at the Außenalster campus.
