Description

At the center of the seminar is Rebecca Saunders' concerto for double bass and ensemble "Fury II". Two works by Ustkvolskaya and Xenakis, which Saunders greatly appreciates, broaden our perspective on Saunders' thinking. Loosely linked by the theme of rage is the colorful bouquet of other very different compositions that we will analyze in the course of the seminar. Be it a percussionist who increasingly plays herself into a rage in Aperghi's "Corps a Corps" or the whirlwind that seizes Aperghi's music theater "Avis de tempete". In Sciarrino's opera "Luci mie traditrici", rage leads the count to commit double murder - and Sciarrino to a special vocal style, which we will compare with similar wonderful pieces by Furrer ("Lotofagos II") and Poppe ("Wasp"). In Mauro Lanza's string quartet with electronics "The 1987 Max Headroom Incident", an old television pirate gradually hijacks the concert hall, whose anarchic rage then determines the further course of the work. From this work by Lanza, traces lead on to Fausto Romitelli's works and his artistic treatment of media distortion.
