Description

Diversity is usually negotiated in identity-based categories. What is different can be identified using different 'markers' (gender, skin color, social background) and made accessible for critical debate. What is sometimes neglected in this context is that diversity also has a strong economic dimension, which refers to social processes that precede common identity formations. Political inequality continues to manifest itself above all in an unequal distribution of economic resources, which is particularly noticeable in the music and theater industry and its educational institutions. The seminar attempts to contribute to a broader understanding of the term and to add an important facet to the diversity discourse at the HfMT. Classical economic theories will be thoroughly analyzed and related to current pathologies of highly cultural art production.
