Description

The history of European music points to a widespread colonial history of decay, which, however, often threatens to be lost in the sea of the so-called 'linguistic distance of music'. Unlike in the case of literature or painting, the references and symptoms of the colonial in musical works of art are less 'explicit', they have to be worked out and uncovered. This applies in particular to the musical material that composers work with in their works.
The aim of the seminar is to convey the basic lines of a decolonial musical aesthetic. Theory and practice go hand in hand. Last but not least, the aim is to search for contemporary presentations of the musical canon.
